The following sixteen lots form a set of all the regular
coinage of the United States Mint for the year 1868. Six
sets only were struck in aluminum, a number of them for
presentation to foreign governments. The set herein cata¬
logued was purchased at the sale of the Fewsmith Cabi¬
net, October 4, 1870, and is now separated, at request of
the owner, to enable collectors to obtain single specimens
of United States coins struck in the new and beautiful
metal — aluminum.* Each piece is sharp and in beautiful
